About Listening Matters
Listening Matters is a blog published occasionally by Barbara B. Nixon, Ph.D. (ABD). Topics you’ll find here include public relations, public speaking, and listening and its impact on our lives.
Barbara is an assistant professor of Communication Arts at Georgia Southern University, teaching courses in Public Relations and Public Speaking. Before coming to GSU, Barbara worked in human resources for several Fortune 500 companies, spearheading a diversity council and leading diversity initiatives in the early 2000s. A Life Member of the International Listening Association, Barbara served in ILA board roles for more than a decade. She is completing her dissertation at Capella University, focusing on leadership development in volunteer organizations.
